When I was in Cape Town I saw these Melissa (Brazilian brand that makes vegan-friendly plastic shoes) shoes at Imagenius in Long Street. You may have seen the infamous ones that Vivienne Westwood designs for Melissa, but these were designed by Isabela Capeto. I like. I want.

I ate some really yummy food in Cape Town. My fave were the toasted banana bread with mascarpone and honey at Melissa's, seared salmon with crushed potatoes at Greens, banana tempura with vanilla ice cream at Genki, a vegetarian version of Croque Monsieur at Superette, and courgette and parmesan soup at Manna. Mmmm... I am definitely making the salmon and the banana bread sometime soon.

So I flew back home yesterday morning. Was sad to leave Cape Town, but since I am the ultimate homebody , it is always nice to be back in my own little space, surrounded by my own things.

I bought all kinds of pretty things, which I will photograph and post here later the week, but for now, take a look at these adorable matryoshka measuring cups a friend got me from the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Thanks Willemien!

Sigh...I've been seeing waaaaaaay too many awesome things in Cape Town. I seriously could spend thousands here every day. It's very dangerous. Unfortunately...or fortunately, I don't have much money to spend, it being the week before I get paid and all.

I didn't actually see this mirror, but I do like it too. Would look rad above my retro couch...

So I arrived in Cape Town yesterday afternoon and so far it's been great. My mom brought with a belated birthday present from a friend of mine. Thanks Elz! Me and my Moomin cookbook are gonna have so much fun!

I will be in Cape Town with my parents later this month and one of the places I can't wait to visit is Vamp. It's a bit of of the way for me, but I've promised myself that I will get there this time. Just look at some of the awesome things they sell.

Only been to look at one flat (this morning) and I'm already so over this new home search thing. It doesn't help that I wish we were moving to Cape Town instead...

something to write home about

So the husband and I managed to fit quite a lot of stuff into our 4 days in Cape Town. We walked up and down (and up and down) Long and Kloof streets, went to the Neighbourgoods Market and the Toffie Pop Culture Festival, ate at Field Cafe, Mr Pickwicks, San Julian, Birds Boutique Cafe, Royale, and watched an acoustic set by Fire Through The Window at &Union (where we met an adorable French Bulldog who ate all our chips but was too cool to be patted). There was a bunch of other stuff I wanted to do, but that will have to wait for October when we go again. Anyway, I went to the Country Road shop at the Waterfront twice and bought some really, really nice things, like ceramic Xmas decorations, a grey jersey top, and red and black patterned henley. Also got a boooootiful vintage red dress at Wardrobe. I am a happy girl!

In 5 days the husband and I will be in Cape Town. Whoop whoop! I love that city. Anyway, apart from shopping and eating, I also want to visit the exhibition space at the Toffie Pop Culture Festival in the Cape Town City Hall. Some of the creatives that will be there include: Liam Mooney, Angie Batis and Shane Durrant, Porky Hefer, Dave Pepler, Superella, Doker and Misses, David West, Elle Decoration, and Frauke Stegmann. Wow...just reading those names makes me all excited!

So the husband and I are heading to Cape Town at the end of the month!!! Can you tell I'm super-excited? We are going to stay in my parent's flat in Kloof Street (in the same building where  Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds shot their new movie Safe House two weeks ago). Here are some of the things I wanna see, eat, do, shop:
1. Blue Bird Garage Food and Goods Market - This newish market looks pretty cool.
2. Neighbourgoods Market + The Old Biscuit Mill - Went last time I was in the Cape and felt like I was walking through a Parisien market. So many delicious foodie things to choose from. Mmmm
3. Dokter and Misses - Supercool decor things to make my wallet cringe.
4. Birds Boutique Cafe - Love their cakes, juices, lunches and the minimalist decor.
5. Church - Concept shop deluxe.
6. &Union The husband loves their beers.
7. The Food Barn - My mom went here a while ago and made my mouth water as she described her meal.
8. O.live - More nice things to feed my insatiable decor hunger.
9. Field Office - For a coffee fix.
10. San Julian - I love me some Mexican food.
11. El Burro - Another Mexican place I wanna try. Supposedly their fish tacos are outta this world.
12. Haas - Pretty ceramics to add to my collection.
